ASGCO®’s Semi-Ceramic Pulley Lagging Improves Mistracking At An Aggregate Plant

Challenge: Aggregate plant was experiencing severe mistracking in the center drive and the gravity take-up section of the conveyor. The mistracking had rubbed and damaged the conveyor structure and a solution was needed to prepare for Spring Crushing Season. During ASGCO®’s on-site inspection, it was discovered that both the Bend Pulley and the Snub Pulley had severe wear and the current trainer was ineffective.

SOLUTION/
ASGCO® presented a plan of action to address the mistracking in the center drive/gravity take-up section that included ultrasound testing of the exposed pulley drums to determine the thickness and the ability to relag in place. The upper bend pulley was too worn out for relagging and was replaced by the customer. ASGCO® relagged the lower bend and the snub with ASGCO®’s Semi-Ceramic Pulley Lagging to increase the life span of lagging compared to rubber-only lagging. ASGCO® also removed the old ineffective traditional return trainers and installed 60” Heavy Duty Tru-Trainers, placed 30′ before and after the center drive of the gravity take-up section.

RESULTS/
By removing the uneven worn lagging and replacing it with ASGCO®’s Semi-Ceramic Pulley Lagging we eliminated the possibility of uneven diameter pulleys influencing belt tracking by creating a consistent pulley diameter across the face of the pulleys. This allowed the heavy-duty Tur-Trainers® to be most effective, by not allowing unevenly worn pulleys to work against the adjustments the Tru-Trainer® made to the belt tracking. The customer was thoroughly impressed with ASGCO®’s full spectrum of services, the walk-down, report, solution presentation and ASGCO® tech’s execution of plan. The conveyor is now tracking in center of all pulleys in the center-drive and gravity take-up section.

Objective: Transfer Clinker into three (3) separate locations along the conveyor.

Challenge: Transfer Clinker into three (3) separate locations along the conveyor. The Customer needed the ability to convey clinker into their bins as needed. This would only be possible using this method or a tripper conveyor. The tripper conveyor would be extremely expensive and would have taken months to design, fabricate, and install. Adding the ASGCO® Lift Bed – Diverter Plows™ was cost effective and was able to be installed in a matter of weeks.

Solutions: After obtaining some preliminary information such as belt speed, tons per hour, and locations, ASGCO® designed the diverter plow and lift bed utilizing 3-DEM® modeling to ensure all of the clinker would be plowed off at the designated locations. This would require two Lift Bed – Diverter Plows as well as a head discharge to allow all (3) three clinker bins to be filled.

Results: After a day of installation the customer was able to run clinker on this system and activate each diverter plow individually to fill their clinker bins. Each lift bed was fully integrated into the PLC which made all functions able to be performed from the control room. A local activation switch was also provided for ease of testing. Overall the ASGCO® diverter bed ensured this cement manufacturer was able to continue production with minimal downtime for the installation and with excellent performance from the ASGCO® Lift Bed – Diverter Plow.

ASGCO’s® Lift Bed – Diverter Plow Improves Bulk Material Handling

Allentown, PA:  Many situations in bulk handling require material to be separated to different transfer points or receptacles.  ASGCO®’s new Lift Bed – Diverter Plow is specifically designed to handle that task, and at a more cost-effective than a traditional tripper conveyor.

The Lift Bed – Diverter Plow is a pneumatically operated impact bed that lifts the conveyor belt from full trough to zero (0°) into a stationary diagonal plow. The urethane diagonal plow, which includes two Spring-shoc tensioners, enables the lift bed to apply the proper tension and not pinch or damage the belt.  This increases production and allows the belt to experience a limited amount of stress, eliminating the opportunity for premature wear and stretching.

“This fully automated bulk material diverter plow system is a real game changer because it allows users to fully clean and divert materials at designated locations.  The diagonal plow discharges material from either side of the conveyor as specified by the customer during design, which makes it uniquely suited for any situation,” said Aaron Gibbs, President of ASGCO®

The plow can be automated by either the push of a button or set-up on a timer or PLC system.  It is designed with a rugged steel structure for the toughest of mining environments and conditions including such as those in aggregate, coal, pulp and paper and bulk material handling industries.

ASGCO® Introduces Crossover/In-Line Magnetic Separator

Allentown, PA.: When it comes to protecting equipment, ensuring product purity, or recovering materials, ASGCO® “Complete Conveyor Solutions” Magnetic Separator can provide it all. The overhead magnet is a powerful non-electric material separator that is suspended over a conveyor or head pulley to remove ferrous metals. Though it requires no external power source, the separator has the magnetic intensity to extract all ferrous contamination, including very fine particles in dry or wet conditions.

ASGCO®’s Magnetic Separator is ideally suited for Materials Recovery Facilities (MRF), Scrap Recycling, Electronics Recycling (e-waste), Construction & Demolition (C&D), Wood Recycling, Tire Recycling, Incineration Ash & Plastics Recycling.

Metal is attracted by the self-cleaning model and is automatically and continuously removed from the magnet face by a belt that travels around the body of the magnet. ASGCO®’s Magnetic Separators may also be placed at an incline. These can be applied in all product and waste flows and or any bandwidth and layer thickness.

A stainless steel cleated belt moves contaminants from product flow into a collection bin or chute- the separator provides continuous cleaning with no downtime for maintenance. Custom configurations are also available to accommodate all belt sizes, with options for high temperatures, various belt materials- even armor clad belts.
The separator can be arranged to be installed in-line or crossover, depending on the specific installation needs.

ASGCO® Introduces Their New Pit-Skalper® Belt Cleaner

Allentown, PA.:   ASGCO® “Complete Conveyor Solutions” is proud to announce the introduction of a new model to their industry leading line of primary belt cleaners.  The Pit-Skalper® is based on the proven technology and performance of the Skalper®, which is used throughout the world in the harshest environments.  This new design is specifically geared to handle the needs of aggregate, ready mix, portable crushing and screening plants, sand, gravel, asphalt and recycling, while providing superior cleaning to remove carryback from the conveyor belt. 

Pit-Skalper® uses the same patented E-Z Torque® tensioner as the rest of the Skalper® line featuring a stainless steel spring, allowing the blades to self-adjust throughout the entire life of the blade, making it the most robust and accurate belt cleaner tensioner in the industry.  The tensioner and mounting tube are zinc plated for corrosion resistance and the blades can be quickly changed from one side of the conveyor belt. 

“We listened to the needs of our customers; they want an effective belt cleaner that can hold up to the tough conditions of portable crushing and screening operations, recycling facilities and ready-mix and asphalt operations,” said Aaron Gibbs, President of ASGCO.  “After working with our engineering and manufacturing teams we developed a primary belt cleaner to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.”    

Pit-Skalper® can be installed on any belt with maximum blade speeds of 600fpm (3.0m/sec) and a pulley diameter of 10”-20”.
